Contemporary Sculpture in Early Greece

Nearly all sculptors were paid by the temples to adorn the elaborate pillars and archways with renderings of the gods up until the period came to a close and many Greeks began to think of their religion as superstitious rather than sacred, when it became more common for sculptors to portray everyday men and women as well. Often times, a representation of affluent families' ancestors would be commissioned to be laid within huge familial tombs, and portraiture, which would be replicated by the Romans upon their conquest of Greek civilization, also became commonplace. It is amiss to state that the arts had one function during The Classical Greek period, a time of innovative advancement during which the use of sculpture and various other art forms evolved. Whether to satisfy a visual craving or to commemorate the figures of religion, Greek sculpture was an innovative practice in the ancient world, which could be what attracts our attention currently.

The Favorable Effects of Water Features on Your Furry Friends and Visiting Birds

Outdoor water features and bird feeders are a healthy way to draw in wildlife and pets. All birds need a place to drink, bathe and preen. Birds such as robins, thrushes, orioles, or warblers are usually attracted to the active water of fountains. Birds are often drawn to outdoor fountains because of their moving water rather than the standing water found in bowl-shaped bird baths. Birds can hear the trickling and splashing and are even more likely to come visit.

Dogs are drawn to fountains mainly because they provide drinking water. During scorching months of summer, cats and dogs will be outdoors for the absolute freshest water around. Fountains generally need little cleaning due to their constantly flowing water, whereas birdbaths need to be regularly serviced because they easily collect debris.

The Beauty of Multi-Level Water Features

For many years now now, multi-tiered fountains have been common, most notably in gardens. You can find many of these fountains in Italy, Spain, and other Southern European countries. While they can be seen anywhere, they are most prevalent in the center of building complexes and in popular areas where people get together. Beautiful carvings can be found on some of the most sophisticated tiered fountains, while others have much simpler designs.

Although they can be seen just about anywhere, they seem particularly at home in more classic environments. If done correctly, anyone seeing the fountain will think it has been there for many years.

A Few Simple Ways to Hang a Wall Water Element

Beautify virtually any area with the addition of a wall fountain.

Serenity and calmness will fill the room due to the soothing sound of the waterfall. People tend to hang their wall fountains in foyers, but, in fact, they can be a wonderful addition to any room where everyone congregates. Although the instructions for installing one are fairly straightforward there will be small modifications depending on the model. Be sure that all the different components are used in assembling it. The base and the upper part will need to be put together as well as the pump and the tubing. Do not forget to review the instructions before getting started in order to avert mistakes. It is usually a straight-forward process. Note, however, that the directions for your specific model can vary slightly. Do not hesitate to get someone to assist you to position the wall fountain in the right place while you make a tiny mark on the wall. To facilitate a straight line, use a level. Put your marks at both the top and the bottom. Your wall fountain can be mounted in one of two ways. There are slots on the back which can be placed onto the screws you place on the wall. On the other hand, brackets can be fixed to the wall. The second option is best, particularly for larger wall fountains. Determine where the brackets need to be located and mark the wall as required. Drill pilot holes in the wall for the drywall anchors. Gently hammer the anchors into the wall. The brackets can then be mounted on the wall using a screwdriver or rechargeable drill. Hang your wall fountain by fastening it onto the brackets. Make sure that it is correctly aligned and not loose. Water can be added once the fountain has been mounted. Use sufficient water so that the pump is entirely submerged.

The water will start to flow as soon as you plug in your fountain. The water should fill the basin to within an inch of the upper end. Be mindful not to fill it totally to the top or it will overflow when you turn off the pump. The water level will rise because it all settles at the bottom of the basin if not getting pumped. Harm can be caused if the water is overly full and overflows down your wall.
