Ways Feng Shui Make Your Yard into Sanctuary

Incorporating feng shui design into your yard will help spread its energy into your home and your life.

Do not worry if your yard is considered too small for feng shui design, as size is is not especially relevant. If you have a lush, beautiful one, that is great, but even a smaller area works well with feng shui design. 8359-2403__42670.jpg

Whether you are adding feng shui design to your home or garden, the methods are the same. The initial part is to know the bagua, or energy map, of your home, as your garden’s bagua will be an extension of that.

In order to make the most of feng shui, it is crucial to start by learning how to bolster each of its five elements.

An example of this is that Earth is the feng shui element you should have in the northeast part of your garden because that part of your garden connects to the energy of personal growth and self-cultivation. A perfect addition to the northeast corner of your yard might be a serene Zen garden decorated with natural stone, as they represent the Earth element in feng shui.

Southeast (money and abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life) are feng shui areas perfect for a water feature.

Rome’s Ingenious Water Transport Systems

With the construction of the first elevated aqueduct in Rome, the Aqua Anio Vetus in 273 BC, individuals who lived on the city’s hills no longer had to depend solely on naturally-occurring spring water for their needs. Outside of these aqueducts and springs, wells and rainwater-collecting cisterns were the only techniques obtainable at the time to supply water to locations of greater elevation. In the early sixteenth century, the city began to use the water that flowed below ground through Acqua Vergine to supply water to Pincian Hill. The aqueduct’s channel was made reachable by pozzi, or manholes, that were added along its length when it was 1st engineered. The manholes made it easier to thoroughly clean the channel, but it was also achievable to use buckets to remove water from the aqueduct, as we viewed with Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi when he bought the property from 1543 to 1552, the year he passed away. It appears that, the rainwater cistern on his property wasn’t sufficient to fulfill his needs. To provide himself with a more useful system to obtain water, he had one of the manholes opened, offering him access to the aqueduct below his property.

A True Roman Marvel: The Santa Maria Water Fountain in Cosmedin

Amazing finds of both Christian and pagan origin have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area around Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Found in the portico of the nearby basilica one can see the celebrated marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth). When the Santa Maria in Cosmedin water fountain was built in 1719, it was off the beaten track and mostly unknown as a result.

It was said that there was very little to see in this area because it was bleak and abandoned making it an unfriendly place to visit. In order to modernize the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, Pope Clement XI commissioned an Italian architect by the name of Carlo Bizzaccheri to design a fountain for the area. August 11, 1717 saw the start of the job to lay down the foundation of the church. Medallions bearing the imagery of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown in the foundation following the blessing of the first stone.

Use a Outdoor Wall Fountain To Help Improve Air Quality

You can beautify your living area by putting in an indoor wall fountain. Pleasant to the senses and beneficial to your health, these indoor features are an excellent addition to your home. The science behind the theory that water fountains can be good for you is irrefutable. Modern-day appliances produce positive ions which are balanced out by the negative ions released by water features. When positive ions overtake negative ones, this results in bettered mental and physical wellness. The higher serotonin levels resulting from these types of features make people more aware, serene and energized. Due to the negative ions it produces, an indoor wall fountain can improve your spirits and also eliminate impurities in the air. Water features also help in eliminating allergens, pollutants among other sorts of irritants. And lastly, dust particles and microbes in the air are removed and lead to improved health.
