How Feng Shui Turn Your Yard into an Oasis

When applied to your yard, feng shui design will introduce its beneficial energy into your home as well.

When introducing feng shui design into your yard, even a very small space is adequate. If you have a lavish, charming one, that is great, but even a small area works well with feng shui design.

The main feng shui tools can be used for your home decor as well as your garden design. Your yard's bagua, or energy map, is an extension of your home’s bagua, so it is important to figure out your home’s first.

Before getting going, make sure you understand the five elements of feng shui so that you can optimize their energy.

Feng shui design calls for the Earth element, for example, to be integrated into the northeastern corner of your garden, as that area connects to self-cultivation and personal growth energy. This could be the optimal place to put a meditative Zen garden with some beautiful stones because these represent the Earth element in feng shui.

A water feature is a suitable addition to the following feng shui areas: Southeast (money & abundance), East (health & family), and North (career & path in life).

A Genuine Roman Masterpiece: The Santa Maria Water Fountain in Cosmedin

Incredible finds of both Christian and pagan roots have been made by archaeologists and restorers in the area around Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Found in the portico of the nearby basilica one can find the acclaimed marble sculpture known as the Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth). The situation of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin fountain (1719) was not in a well-known neighborhood and was, therefore, not oftentimes visited. It was said that there was nothing worth seeing in this area because it was bleak and abandoned making it an unfriendly place to visit. As part of an effort to refurbish the square outside the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, the Italian architect Carlo Bizzaccheri was instructed by Pope Clement XI to design a fountain. The job of laying down the church’s foundation started on August 17, 1717. Medals bearing the images of the Blessed Virgin, for whom the church is named, and of St. John the Baptist, the patron saint of water, were thrown in the foundation following the consecration of the first stone.

The Famous Revelation Fountain at the Gardens of Chatsworth

“Revelation,” the most recent addition to the ornamental outdoor fountains of Chatsworth, was designed by renowned British sculptor Angela Conner. The late 11th Duke of Devonshire commissioned her, due to her work in brass and steel, to create a limited edition bust of Queen Elizabeth in commemoration of the Queen’s 80th birthday bash. “Revelation” was put up in 1999 in Jack Pond, one of Chatsworth’s oldest ponds. Taking on the shape of four large petals which open and close with the flow of water, the metallic water fountain alternatively conceals and displays a gold colored globe at the center of the sculpture. A gold dust decorated metal globe was created and included to the big sculpture standing five meters in height and five meters wide. This latest water fountain is a fascinating addition to the Gardens at Chatsworth because the petals’ movement is completely powered by water.

Choosing the Ideal Place for Your Water Element

Before picking out a water fountain, take some time to think about precisely where you want to put it. The entryway to a hotel or building is an ideal spot for them, as they offer a lovely welcome to guests.

Some types of fountains are intentionally made to lean against a wall. Typically, they have something on the back of them like a hook or a bar with which you can use to secure them to a wall, post, or some other secure spot.

There are many natural hazards such as wind or animals which can knock over your fountain if you do not securely fasten it to the wall, so do not neglect to do this as soon as possible.

Anywhere people come together to sit and enjoy the fresh air is great for another option, a garden sculpture style.
