The Hellenic Republic: Architectural Sculpture

Sculptors adorned the complex columns and archways with renderings of the gods until the time came to a close and most Greeks had begun to think of their theology as superstitious rather than sacred; at that instant, it became more standard for sculptors be paid to portray everyday individuals as well. twf037-al__92279.jpg Affluent families would often times commission a rendering of their ancestors for their big familial tombs; portraiture also became prevalent and would be appropriated by the Romans upon their acquisition of Greek society. A point of aesthetic development, the use of sculpture and other art forms transformed during the Greek Classical period, so it is not entirely accurate to say that the arts served only one function. Greek sculpture was actually a cutting-edge component of antiquity, whether the cause was faith based fervor or aesthetic fulfillment, and its modern quality might be what endears it to us now.

Outdoor Water Fountains Found in Historical Documents

Water fountains were originally practical in function, used to deliver water from canals or creeks to cities and villages, supplying the inhabitants with clean water to drink, wash, and prepare food with. A supply of water higher in elevation than the fountain was required to pressurize the flow and send water spraying from the fountain's nozzle, a technology without equal until the late nineteenth century. Inspirational and spectacular, large water fountains have been crafted as memorials in many societies. When you encounter a fountain at present, that is certainly not what the very first water fountains looked like. The first known water fountain was a stone basin created that was used as a receptacle for drinking water and ceremonial functions. 2000 BC is when the oldest identified stone fountain basins were originally used. Gravity was the energy source that controlled the oldest water fountains. Drinking water was supplied by public fountains, long before fountains became ornate public statues, as pretty as they are practical. Fountains with embellished Gods, mythological beasts, and creatures began to appear in Rome in about 6 B.C., made from rock and bronze. The Romans had an intricate system of aqueducts that furnished the water for the numerous fountains that were placed throughout the community.

Rome’s Ingenious Water Transport Systems

Aqua Anio Vetus, the first raised aqueduct founded in Rome, commenced providing the people living in the hills with water in 273 BC, though they had relied on natural springs up till then. Over this period, there were only two other technologies capable of providing water to higher areas, subterranean wells and cisterns, which gathered rainwater. Beginning in the sixteenth century, a newer method was introduced, using Acqua Vergine’s subterranean segments to generate water to Pincian Hill. Pozzi, or manholes, were built at regular intervals along the aqueduct’s channel. The manholes made it less demanding to maintain the channel, but it was also achievable to use buckets to pull water from the aqueduct, as we witnessed with Cardinal Marcello Crescenzi when he bought the property from 1543 to 1552, the year he passed away. He didn’t get adequate water from the cistern that he had established on his property to gather rainwater.

Via an opening to the aqueduct that flowed below his property, he was in a position to satisfy his water demands.

A Solar Energy Powered Water Wall Fountain

Have you always wanted to beautify the look of your residence? Well, think about adding elegance and value to your residence by installing a solar water feature. They are the same as electric fountains in that they help with one's overall well-being but they also offer financial benefits. Even though there may be a significantly greater cost at the beginning, the long-term investment will make it worthwhile. Despite occasional power outages, your fountain will not be affected because it does not run on electricity.

Running water fountains will lead to an increase in your electric bill. Even though you might not instantly see the short-term benefits, remember that your home will certainly gain in value in the long-run.

The increased costs resulting from using more electricity is not the only factor, it also damages our eco-system. Solar powered water fountains get their energy straight from the sun thus making them the perfect “green” fountain. Using solar energy to power our homes as well as a water feature is important because it also safeguards our environment.

This type of fountain demands less upkeep than others. As there is no electrical motor that can get clogged, little cleaning is needed.

And since there is little cleaning to do, you will have more time to enjoy yourself!

The Endless Ways You Can Benefit from Fountains

Outdoor fountains are perfect additions to any home because they contribute so many positives such as healthier air quality, and appealing sights and sounds. Along with the many health benefits they provide, they also produce a setting which your friends and family will appreciate. In the end though, you will probably enjoy certain benefits your fountain will provide only to you. Maybe it takes you back to a special area you once visited. It might remind you of that special friend. You could also make it a memorial to a special someone. Whatever the case, it is something you will delight in for many years.
